Berlin now has the ecotrans Ladies Open!
New name, certainly a new winner - and well on the way to a new attendance record. From now on, the WTA 500 tournament will be called the ecotrans Ladies Open! The renowned logistics company has been promoted from presenting partner to naming sponsor and title sponsor of the grass court spectacle.
This was announced by Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of promoter emotion Group, and ecotrans founder Bartosz Wojsznis on Tuesday directly on the perfect turf in the Steffi Graf Stadium. Weindorfer: “It is a great honor for us and we are very proud that the ecotrans Group is our new main sponsor.”
Wojsznis has been supporting the tournament for many years and is an indispensable logistics partner. Now the company, which operates a fleet of over 500 trucks across Europe, is once again increasing its commitment to the world-class tennis tournament in Berlin: „We are very grateful that we have been given the opportunity to be the main sponsor here.” His ecotrans Group stands for courage, drive and maximum professionalism. This is why the emotion Group is already using the ecotrans Group's logistics services for other events and tournaments, such as the BOSS Open in Stuttgart and the Mallorca Championships.
Courage, drive, maximum professionalism. This also drives Angelique Kerber. She loves playing on grass and won Wimbledon in 2018. Now she's coming to Berlin. And now it's clear: on Tuesday, June 18, Germany's tennis superstar will take part in the tournament.
Tuesday will be Angie's day!
Barbara Rittner, Tournament Director of the ecotrans Ladies Open, is certain that Kerber will be in strong form: “Angelique Kerber is on her way to regaining her old form, she loves playing on grass, it's her favorite surface.” And she is a fan favorite. Ticket sales are well above last year's level, and the grounds around the Steffi Graf Stadium will be full.
Of course, this is also very much down to the world number one Iga Swiatek. As soon as the exceptional Polish player's arrival was announced, the number of ticket requests from Poland skyrocketed.
Wednesday will be Iga Swiatek's day!
Swiatek will play her first match on Wednesday, June 19. The huge ticket sales in Poland suggest that Swiatek will then be able to enjoy an almost home match atmosphere. As the world number one, she is the top favorite to win the title and thus succeed Petra Kvitova. The Czech is pregnant and will therefore not be competing.
On the other hand, the top nine in the world rankings are all competing. In other words, Berlin will feature a field of starters at absolute Grand Slam level, namely the holders of world rankings one to nine in this order: Iga Swiatek will be followed by Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, Marteka Vondrousova, Jessica Pegula, Quinwen Zheng, Maria Sakkari and Ons Jabeur.
“We will be sold out on many days of the tournament,” says Weindorfer, who is delighted at how keen tennis fans from home and abroad are to attend the ecotrans Ladies Open. For this reason, some ecotrans trucks will be used for other purposes. Some will drive through and park in Berlin, especially over the next few days. With 1000 tickets to be won! So, head for the ecotrans truck!
On the tournament grounds, a truck will also become a stage for public viewing, autograph sessions and so on. The ecotrans Ladies Open 2024: great sport on a great stage.
