After entry deadline: World elite will make Berlin the tennis capital!

The world elite of women's tennis in Berlin! Now that the closing date for entries has been reached, what has already become apparent in recent weeks is certain. The Berlin Ladies Open presented by ecotrans Group will feature a density of talent that is a rarity even in the global tournament calendar of the WTA Tour.

Led by Polish world number one Iga Swiatek, the world's elite will be playing for the coveted title at the Steffi Graf Stadium of the LTTC "Rot-Weiß" e. V. from June 15 - 23. Now the reigning Wimbledon winner Marketa Vondrousova (No. 6, Czech Republic) and Ons Jabeur (No. 9, Tunisia) have also confirmed their participation. This means that the top nine in the WTA rankings will all be competing in Berlin!

And, of course, Angelique Kerber, 2018 Wimbledon winner, and Naomi Osaka(Japan), two other superstars and crowd favorites who are already ranked No. 1 in the world rankings, will also compete.

Tournament Director Barbara Rittner is therefore certain: "Every match will offer absolute top-class tennis. Our tournament has the line-up of a Grand Slam tournament. It's almost unbelievable what we can offer here."

  • All four defending champions from the last four Grand Slam tournaments in Melbourne (Aryna Sabalenka), Paris (Iga Swiatek), Wimbledon (Marketa Vondrousova) and New York (Coco Gauff) will be competing in Berlin

  • The top nine in the world rankings will compete.

  • 15 players from the top 20 have registered.

Excitement at an outstanding level is therefore simply guaranteed. And a new winner. Defending champion Petra Kvitova is pregnant and therefore not playing. Many eyes will once again be on Ons Jabeur. She won in Berlin in 2022 and became the darling of the crowds. In Wimbledon in 2022 and 2023, she was only stopped in the final, first by Yelena Rybakina (No. 4, Kazakhstan), who is also playing in Berlin, and then by Marketa Vondrousova. Will there be another duel in Berlin?
