After five successful years: emotion group relinquishes organisation of the WTA tournament in Berlin

The ecotrans Ladies Open 2024 ended on Sunday in the sold-out Steffi Graf Stadium at the LTTC "Rot-Weiß" e. V. in Berlin with the victory of Jessica Pegula. By hosting this WTA tournament in 2021, the emotion group has re-established Berlin as a fixture on the international tennis calendar, having already organised the bett1aces in 2020. "Our tournament has become a globally recognised event," says Edwin Weindorfer, founder and CEO of the e|motion group. He is now handing over the organisation of this tournament to other hands; from 2025, the WTA tournament in Berlin will be hosted by an organiser yet to be announced.

The tournament will nevertheless remain in Berlin. In 2025, the tournament is scheduled for 14 - 22 June.

Weindorfer enthused about the development of the tournament, which he predicts will have excellent prospects for the future: "This tournament has got better and better and has never been as good as it was this year, the fans are embracing it and the best players in the world want to play here in Berlin. My special thanks go to bett1, our long-standing title sponsor, and this year's title sponsor, the ecotrans Group, as well as the many supporters."

Eight top 10 players took part this year.

Tournament Director Barbara Rittner is therefore also optimistic about the future: "We have a world-class field, the players love coming to Berlin."

It should stay that way.
