Andrea Petkovic returns to the bett1open 2022

Author, TV Presenter – but above all, a world-class tennis player for the past one and a half decades. Andrea Petkovic (34) is one of the most charismatic personalities in the international tennis scene.  Remarkable both on the court and in conversation. An eye-catcher with a lot to contribute.

Until the end of the year, she was still practicing with her friend and teammate Angelique Kerber. Next year, the current world number 75 plans on climbing up the WTA ladder. She hopes to do so in front of her home crowd. Thus, she decided to return to the bett1open in Berlin on June 11th, 2022. The Steffi Graf Stadium, heart of the prestigious LTTC “Rot-Weiß” Berlin, offers world-class lawn tennis. “I am already looking forward to the tournament in Berlin. The conditions there are ideal, and the atmosphere is amazing. The fans are very involved, the courts are excellent, and the competition is outstanding”, says Petkovic.

The righty has already won seven titles and made it to the Top-10 of the WTA. In 2011, she was ranked 9th.

Barbara Rittner, the tournament director of the bett1open and Head of Women’s Tennis at the German Tennis Federation (DTB), is excited about the confirmation of Petkovic’s participation in Berlin - and simultaneously believes it makes sense: “Petko is seeking the competition, wants to measure herself against the best. She continues to be highly motivated and ambitious and set big goals for 2022, including the grass season. This makes the bett1open the perfect Championship for her”. One week after the bett1open final, Wimbledon begins. Therefore, the tournament in the German capital becomes even more attractive in preparation for the Grand Slam in London.

The sale for the bett1open tickets which will take place from June 11th until the 19th is already well underway.

While Andrea Petkovic is making her way Down Under in preparation for the Australian Open over Christmas, tennis fans here in Germany can already secure tickets for the tournament in Berlin, which will guarantee the participation of world-class players. Additionally, for the first time this year, you can buy vouchers at the bett1open online shop. The gift cards serve as the perfect Christmas present, as they offer the recipient the opportunity to flexibly choose on what day he/she wants to visit to the bett1open 2022.
